Which phones are compatible with the Qantas Assure App?

iPhone users

If you have an iPhone 5s and above or the iPod Touch 5th gen and above, you can track your steps using the iPhone or iPod via Apple’s Health App. These devices come with software that take in sensor data from the accelerometers, gyroscopes, and compasses built into your phone. The co-processor then calculates your step count so a wearable is not needed (but can still be used!). To ensure that your steps are being tracked, you will need to  carry your iPhone while stepping or running.

If you have an iPhone 5 or 5c, you will need a compatible wearable device to track your steps as these devices do not come with an inbuilt step tracker. Wearables include an Apple Watch OS 2.1, Fitbit, or any wearable device which syncs to Apple Health. To determine whether a particular wearable device syncs to Apple Health, please check with the device manufacturer.

All iOS devices require iOS 9.0 or later. iPads are not supported.

Android users

Android devices can track steps via the Google Fit App, which is free to download from the Google Play Store. You will need to carry your phone to track your steps.

You can also use any wearable device which syncs steps to Google Fit. To determine whether a particular wearable device syncs steps to Google Fit, please check with the device manufacturer.

All Android devices require OS 5.0 or later.
